Leona Hansel
Leona C. Hansel, 79, Mendon, died Jan. 28, 2011, at her home.
She was born April 27, 1931, in Dalhart, Texas, to Edward and Amelia Fark Harjehausen. On Aug. 22, 1953, she married Claude Hansel, who died June 1, 1998.
Surviving is a son, Tim Hansel, Celina; two daughters, Nancy (Darrell) Etgen, Mendon, and Kay Hansel, Mendon; a sister, Lucille Draving, Beavercreek; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Also deceased is a brother, Harold Harjehausen, died Nov. 1, 2010.
She and her husband co-owned and operated Hansel's Recreation in Mendon for 36 years. She worked at Celina Insurance Group, and for the last 28 years, she worked for the Mercer County Council on Aging. She was a graduate of New Bremen High School. She was a member of the Mendon First Church of God where she was a Sunday school teacher, Deaconess and treasurer of the Women's Christian Service Council.
Funeral services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church, the Rev. Dean Bruce officiating. Burial is at Mendon Cemetery.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at W. H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home in Mendon and 9-10 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
Memorials may be made to the Mercer County Council on Aging or the church.
