Kenneth Kessen
Kenneth L. Kessen, 82, Coldwater, died at 12:35 a.m. Feb. 5, 2011, at Briarwood Village in Coldwater.
He was born June 17, 1928, in Coldwater to Peter and Alvina Schneider Kessen. On July 3, 1951, he married Lucille Heitkamp, who died Sept. 16, 2004.
Surviving are five children, Judy (Ron) Roessner, Coldwater, Jerry (Joan) Kessen, Coldwater, Cindy (Randy) Bennett, Celina, Shirley (Kenny) Dammeyer, St. Marys, and Michele (Jerry) Hirsch, Celina; a brother, Leroy (Phyllis) Kessen, Coldwater; 10 in-laws, Ivo (Millie) Heitkamp, St. Henry, Thelma Heitkamp, St. Henry, Mary Alice (Julius) Ahrens, Maria Stein, Joan Reigelsperger, Roseann (Ivo) Schmidt and Alvan (Linda) Heitkamp, all of Coldwater, Dorothy (Art) Brunswick, Beavercreek, Charlene (Don) Mikesell, Greenville, Ruth Frantz, Kettering, and Dan Heitkamp, Dayton; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Also deceased is a brother, Ralph Kessen; and three brothers-in-law, Louis Reigelsperger, Louis Heitkamp and Lavern Heitkamp.
He retired from the former New Idea Plant in Coldwater after 47 years. He was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Knights of Columbus and was past president, treasurer and bartender of the Eagles, all of Coldwater.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial is at St. Elizabeth Cemetery in Coldwater.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and 9-10 a.m. Wednesday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Coldwater.
