Alvina Riethman
Alvina Riethman, 88, Maria Stein, died at 6 p.m. Feb. 12, 2011, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Minster.
She was born May 10, 1922, in Maria Stein to Clem and Clara Homan Brandewie. On May 2, 1945, she married Clarence Riethman, who died Sept. 1, 1990.
Surviving are 10 children, Mary (Harold) Schmiesing, Sidney, John Riethman, Maria Stein, Margie (Lee) Ozbun, Columbus, Charles (Deb) Riethman, Maria Stein, Velma (Patrick) Bulcher, Minnesota, Virgil Riethman, New Bremen, Mark (Diane) Riethman, Fort Loramie, Dorothy (Tom) Gariety, Russia, Harold (Vicki) Riethman, Havertown, Pa., and Joseph (Cheryl) Riethman, Schoolcraft, Mich.; sisters-in-law, Cecilia Eyink, St. Henry, and Marie Riethman, McCartyville; a brother-in-law, Richard Harting, Dayton; 39 grandchildren and 49 great-grandchildren.
Also deceased are three grandchildren.
She was a member of the St. John Catholic Church in Maria Stein. She also was a member of St. Anne Ladies Sodality, the choir and a religion teacher.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Gene Schnipke officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and 9-10 a.m. Wednesday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Minster.
Memorials may be made to the Relic Chapel in Maria Stein.
