Vera Grogean
Vera E. Grogean, 96, Newport, died Feb. 13, 2011, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Minster.
She was born Jan. 1, 1915, in Minster to Harry and Sophia Boerger Eiting. On Aug. 24, 1940, she married Marion A. Grogean, who died Jan. 12, 1996.
Surviving is a brother-in-law, Charlie Grogean, Russia.
Also deceased are four siblings, Edwin Eiting, Henrietta Pleiman, Norbert Eiting and Rose Mary Osterloh.
She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Newport. She also was a member of the Rosary Alter Sodality of the church and the Catholic Ladies of Columbia and the Ladies Society. She was part owner/operator of Newport Tavern and Grogean Tavern. She managed Norge Village Dry Cleaning and Laundry Mat in Sidney.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. Steven Shoup officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery.
Calling is 4-7 p.m. Thursday and 9-10 a.m. Friday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Minster.
