Wayne Derrickson
Wayne R. Derrickson, 89, Geneva, Ind., died at 8:27 p.m. April 28, 2011, at Adams Memorial Hospital, Decatur, Ind.
He was born March 20, 1922, in Ceylon, Ind., to Frank and Nellie Pickett Derrickson. On Dec. 21, 1946, he married June Shanks, who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Janelle (Richard) Nuding, Celina, and Janene Dubach, Newfield, N.J.; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two sisters, Edna Giehart and Ila Loy; a brother, Harold Derrickson; and a great-grandchild, Alissa Rose Bretz.
He was a retired farmer, a semi driver for P.B. Stewart and a school bus driver. He was a member of the Geneva VFW Post 6751 and the Decatur American Legion. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII.
A celebration of life service is 11 a.m. Monday at Downing & Glancy Funeral Home, Geneva, the Rev. Ralph Klinker officiating. Burial is at Riverside Cemetery, Geneva. Military rites will be conducted by the Geneva VFW.
Calling is 1-6 p.m. Sunday and 10-11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
