An arctic cold front will move quickly east across the region through daybreak. This will usher in a much colder airmass with temperatures quickly falling below freezing.
Snow showers can be expected this morning with snow accumulations of a half inch or less possible. This will combine with the falling temperatures to produce slick spots on untreated roadways. In addition, brisk west winds will gust to 25 to 35 mph at times this morning.
The morning commute will be affected by these conditions. Please allow for some extra time to reach your destination. Be prepared for slick spots, especially on bridges an overpasses.

Gerald H. Knapke
Gerald H. "99" Knapke, 60, Maria Stein, died Aug. 17, 2011, at his sister's residence.
He was born Jan. 12, 1951, in Coldwater, to Leander and Elenora (Hartings) Knapke.
Surviving are four sisters, Rosemary (Tony) Fullenkamp, Ft. Loramie, Rita (Bob) Niekamp, New Bremen, Ann (David) Long, Findlay, and Emily (Charles) Flanagan, Maria Stein; two brothers, Ivo (Pam) Knapke, Maria Stein, and twin Tom Knapke, Maria Stein; and a sister-in-law, Mary Knapke, Maria Stein.
Deceased are a brother, Louis Knapke, and a brother-in-law, Michael Koesters.
He graduated from Marion Local High School in 1969. He worked at Dynamic Weld, Osgood, and was a longtime farmer.
Graveside services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John Cemetery, Maria Stein.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Friday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Minster.
