Charles Hay
Charles M. "Bud" Hay, New Bremen, 92, died at 9:15 a.m. Nov. 24, 2011, at Elmwood of New Bremen.
He was born Feb. 25, 1919, in St. Marys to Charles I. and Matty Marie Schlechty Hay. On Oct. 19, 1946, he married Louise Moeller, who died March 30, 2008.
Surviving are children, James (Danna) Hay, Celina, Kathy (Ron) Tontrup, New Bremen, John (Angie) Hay, Port Charlotte, Fla., and Kris (Steve) Imwalle, New Bremen; a sister, Margaret (Martin) Menchhoffer, St. Marys; in-laws, Cletus Ballweg, St. Marys, Jim and Pat Moeller, New Bremen, Jack and Hilda Moeller, Rochester, Mich., and Ruth Moeller, New Bremen; and six grandchildren.
Deceased are siblings, Kenneth Hay and Pauline Ballweg.
He was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, New Bremen, and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9289 and Eagles Lodge 767, both of St. Marys.
He was employed at Goodyear Tire and Rubber, St. Marys, for 40 years. He served with the U. S. Army during World War II in the South Pacific.
Service is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Becky Erb Strang officiating. Burial will follow in German Protestant Cemetery.
Calling is 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home, New Bremen, and 9:30 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the church.
