Roger Heitkamp
Roger R. Heitkamp, 65, Fort Loramie, died Nov. 25, 2011, at Wilson Memorial Hospital, Sidney.
He was born June 29, 1946, in Celina to Clarence and Lorena Riethman Heitkamp. On Oct. 4, 1969, he married Margaret "Peg" Barlage, who survives.
Also surviving are children, Lisa (Phil) Meyer, McCartyville, Denise (Brian) Elliott, Anna, Doug (Kristin) Heitkamp, Fort Loramie, Mike (Vera) Heitkamp, Anna, and Lori (AJ) Chalk, New Knoxville; siblings, Carol (Tom) Buschur, New Bremen, Elaine (Steve) Barga, West Milton, Lois (Dale) Kennedy, Botkins, and Richard Wehrman, Fort Loramie; sisters-in-law, Bea Barlage, Houston, Dodie Barlage, Dayton, and Marge Barlage, Dayton; and 15 grandchildren.
He was a 1964 graduate of Anna High School and was stationed in Germany with the U. S. Army during the Vietnam era. He recently retired from Trupointe, formerly known as Minster Farmers, where he had worked more than 46 years.
He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Fort Loramie, and was a retired member of St. Michael Cemetery Board. He served as a McLean Township clerk and was a member of Fort Loramie Athletic Booster Club. He was a 16-plus gallon blood donor.
A Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Steven Shoup officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honor by the Army Honor Guard.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Gehret Funeral Home, Fort Loramie.
Memorials may be made to the Fort Loramie Fire Department or Fort Loramie Rescue Squad.
