Elizabeth J. "Betty" Schmidt, 83, Mendon, died March 8, 2012, at her residence.

She was born Oct. 24, 1928, in Geneva, Ind., to Glen and Hazel Morgan Grogg. On Sept. 3, 1988, she married Bennett "Ben" Schmidt, who survives.

Also surviving are four children, Steven (Gilda) Teeple, Valparaiso, Ind., Mark (Evelyn) Teeple, Angola, Ind., Diana (Robert) Fields, Portland, Ind., and Betty Lawrence, Celina; five stepchildren, Roger (Sherry) Schmidt, Columbus, Kevin (Heather) Schmidt, Celina, Mike Schmidt, Lima, Lisa (Mark) Jones, Mount Vernon, and Lori Huffman, Mendon; four siblings, Robert Grogg, Portland, Thomas (Jo) Grogg, Geneva, Mary Ann (Jim) Bailey, Geneva, and Pat Moser, Bluffton, Ind.; a brother-in-law, Dick Fields, Berne, Ind.; a sister-in-law, Joyce Grogg, Mendon; 10 grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.

Deceased are two husbands, Keith Teeple and Edward L. Brown; three sons, Roger Teeple, Larry Teeple and Bruce Teeple; four siblings, Glenn Grogg, Don Grogg, Crystal Hough and Katherine Fields; two grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

A member of Immaculate Conception Church, Celina, she was a 1946 graduate of Hartford High School, Adams County, Ind.

She had worked at the Celina Coffee Shop and the St. Marys Woolen Mill. She retired from Huffy Bicycles, Celina.

Services are 1:30 p.m. Sunday at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home, Mendon, the Rev. Les Schmidt officiating. Burial will follow in Mendon Cemetery.

Calling is 2-7 p.m. Saturday and one hour before services Sunday at the funeral home.
