Rita Wenning-Spraley
Rita L. Wenning-Spraley, 89, North Star, died May 1, 2012, at Briarwood Village, Coldwater.
She was born Nov. 28, 1922, in Lakeview, to Carl and Irene Tate Hohl. Her husband, Alvin J. Spraley, survives.
Also surviving are four children, Margie (John) Heitbrink, McCartyville, Linda (Leo) Wehrkamp, North Star, Charlie Wenning, Conner, Mont., Tom (Loni) Wenning, Asheville, N.C.; four siblings, Mary Murphy, Centerville, Martin (Vivian) Hohl, Centerville, Jack (Marty) Hohl, Dayton, and Anne DeBrosse, Dayton; four in-laws, Velma Rice, Dayton, Lucille Heinrichs, Coldwater, Irene (Clete) Albers, Ashland, and Bertha Wenning, Osgood; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
Deceased are her first husband, Arnold Wenning; a son, Joe Wenning; two brothers, Karl and Richard Hohl; and a great-grandchild.
She was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, the church choir, a lay catechist, a member of St. Anne's Ladies Sodality and was church organist for more than 35 years.
She was a member of North Star American Legion Auxiliary and a life member of Disabled American Veterans.
She was a graduate of a Noblesville, Ind., high school and attended nursing school at Good Samaritan Hospital, Dayton. She worked at Community Hospital, Coldwater, and Briarwood Manor Nursing Home.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church, the Rev. David Zink officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater, and 9-10 a.m. Monday at the church.
