William Sorensen
William D. "Bill" Sorensen, 75, of Lima, died at 4 a.m. May 4, 2012, at his residence.
He was born March 20, 1937, in Lima to Soren Christian and Iva Deene Neal Sorensen. On Sept. 10, 1961, he married Janet A. Adams, who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Tracy A. Sorensen, Lithia, Fla.; two sons, Dean C. (Lori) Sorensen, Reynoldsburg, and Daniel W. Sorensen, Denver, Colo.; a sister, Nancy (David) Ventker, Cincinnati; two sisters-in-law, Kathryn Diehl, DeLand, Fla., and Sue (Paul) Murray, Albany, N.Y.; a brother-in-law, Tony (Terry) Adams, Coldwater; and a sister-in-law, Liz (David) Courtney, Davis, W.Va.
Deceased are an infant son; a brother, Neil C. Sorensen; and a sister, Genevieve Elliott.
He retired as owner/operator of The Handyman and worked as a real estate broker for Iva Deene Sorensen and Son and as an insurance agent for American General. He was a 1955 graduate of Lima Central High School and was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church and Art Space Photography Club, both of Lima, and Wassenberg Photography Club, Van Wert. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.
Services are noon Tuesday at the church, the Rev. James Couser officiating. Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275 of Lima will conduct graveside rites at Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. today at the Shawnee Chapel of Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Lima, and 11 a.m.-noon Tuesday at the church.
