Ruth Makley-Huwer
Ruth A. Makley-Huwer, 92, formerly of St. Marys, died at 1:30 p.m. June 4, 2013, at Elmwood Assisted Living in New Bremen.
She was born June 27, 1920, in St. Marys, to Edgar and Mary Sturgeon Baker. On June 24, 1943, she married George A. Makley, who died Oct. 14, 1958. On March 28, 1987, she married Ralph Huwer, who died Dec. 2, 2007.
Survivors include two daughters, Rebecca Watercutter of Celina and Sarah (Jack) Schrolucke of New Knoxville; two sons, Tom Makley of Spencerville, and Tim (Julie) Makley of New Knoxville; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and stepchildren, Dick, Rita and Bill Huwer, all of Miami, Fla.; Karen Taylor of Ocala, Fla., Jean Harmon of Texas, and Suzie Norman of Michigan.
She is also preceded in death by her granddaughter, Julie Makley; a great-grandson, Mitchell Counts; and son-in-law, Marvin Watercutter.
She was a graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School. She retired from JTDM Hospital in St. Marys, where she was supervisor of the medical records department. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and its Altar Rosary Sodality. Her favorite pastimes included knitting, sewing, playing cards, solving crossword and jigsaw puzzles and family get-togethers.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Barry Stechschulte celebrant. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery in St. Marys.
Calling is 5-8 p.m. Friday at Miller-Long & Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys.
