Donald Gehle
Donald Lee Gehle, 75, New Bremen, died at 4:20 a.m. Sept. 30, 2013, at his residence.
He was born June 12, 1938, in Coldwater, to Henry and Josephine Ables Gehle. On Aug. 24, 1963, he married Rita Ann Mueller, who died June 13, 1979. On Nov. 23, 1990, he married Judy Grogean Schaefer, who survives in New Bremen.
Also surviving are children, Mary Jo (Mark) Dues, St. Henry, Scott (Angie) Gehle, Fort Recovery, and Beth Ann Gehle, St. Marys; a daughter-in-law, Deb (Terry) Wellman, Fort Recovery; stepchildren, Chris (Mark) Sharp, New Bremen, Shelly (Richard) Rohr, New Bremen, Doug (Jody) Schaefer, New Bremen, Nikki (Jeff) Poeppelman, New Bremen, and Natalie Rohr, New Bremen; 30 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; sisters, Joan Bruns, Coldwater, and Vera (Walt) Bills, Virginia; and a brother-in-law, Jim Nolan, Fort Wayne, Ind.
He was preceded in death by sons, Greg and Kevin Lee Gehle, and a sister, Marge Nolan.
He was a member of the Church of the Holy Redeemer, where he was actively involved in the mission work of the church, especially with the work in Granada. He was a Coldwater High School graduate and also graduated from the University of Dayton with an associates degree in mechanical engineering. He was a farmer for 30 years and formerly worked for Superior Agri Systems, Homan Equipment of Maria Stein, The NFO of Minster and recently retired from Gehle Dairy Consultants.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Church of the Holy Redeemer in New Bremen, the Rev. Thomas Mannebach officiating. Burial will take place at 1:30 p.m. in St. Peter Cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Thursday at Gilberg-Hartwig funeral home and 9:30-10 a.m. at the church, at which time the rosary will be prayed.
Memorial donations may be given to Grand Lake Hospice of St. Marys.
