Margaret Aufderhaar
Margaret V. Aufderhaar, 92, formerly of St. Marys, died at 9:20 p.m. Nov. 11, 2013, at Otterbein St. Marys Retirement Community.
She was born Sept. 28, 1921, near New Knoxville, the daughter of Cornelius and Alma Vordermark Henkener. On Feb. 2, 1947, she married Walter Aufderhaar, who died July 13, 2003.
Surviving are two children, Jim (Sue) Aufderhaar, Canton, and Ron (Diane) Aufderhaar, Botkins; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Scott (Lisa) Aufderhaar and their children, Seth, Benjamin, Lillian, Logan and Cole, Botkins; Shawn (Alicia Cooper) Aufderhaar and their children, Brittany, Courtney, Dylan, Gabriel, Phillip, Allie and Cadence, Montra; Brian (Kelly) Aufderhaar and their children, Hannah, Emily, Sofia and Noah, Anna; Jill (Eric) Pax and their children, Xavier, Emma and Chloe, Jackson Center; Brad (Joy) Aufderhaar and their children, Evan, Ethan, Ella, Emmett and Eli, Botkins; Jennifer (John) Brown and their children, Connor, Austin, Madison and Alivia, Wapakoneta; Molly (Bruce) Watkins and their son, Garrett; a great-great-grandchild, Ian Logic; a sister, Eileen Gillespie, Columbus; a brother, George Henkener, Wapakoneta; and a nephew, Larry (Francene) Aufderhaar, St. Marys.
Deceased is a daughter, Joyce Aufderhaar; her husband, Walter; a sister, Carol Wilt; and two great-grandchildren, Joshua and Abigail Aufderhaar.
She was a member of the first class to graduate from the New Knoxville High School in 1939. She attended business college after graduation and retired from St. Marys City Schools, where she served as secretary. Her hobbies included reading, knitting and crocheting, working on the family tree, playing cards, and making memories with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, St. Marys.
Services are 2:30 p.m. Friday at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, St. Marys, the Rev. Dr. Ed Bray officiating. Burial will follow at Pilger Ruhe Cemetery, New Knoxville.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home and one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
Contributions may be made to the Breaking Bread Meal Program of St. Paul's United Church of Christ.
