Zachary Richard
Zachary Eugene Richard, 25, Monroe, formerly of Versailles, died at 1:25 a.m. Nov. 28, 2013, following a tragic pool accident while traveling home from a family vacation in Paris Island, S.C.
He was born the oldest child of Mark and Peggi Pitsenbarger Richard on Jan. 2, 1988, in Sidney. His parents survive in Versailles.
Also surviving are brothers and a sister, Jon, Roxanne (fiancé Russ Beisner), Dominic, Damien and Noah, all at home in Versailles; grandparents, Eugene and Dorothy Richard, Versailles, and Floyd and Janet Pitsenbarger, Versailles; special friend, Gina Sabato; aunts and uncles, Angela (Ken) Bertke, Maria Stein, Mary Jo (Al) Puthoff, Russia, Gregory (Magdalena) Richard, Versailles, Jane (Gary) Mohler, Covington, Jacqueline (Doug) Bruns, Versailles, Tony (Angela) Richard, Minster, Annette (Todd) Subler, Tipp City, Laura (Rodney) Counts, Russia, Nicole (Eric) Voisard, Russia, Sara (Mike) Stueve, Russia, Jeff (Linda) Pitsenbarger, Versailles, Polly Jo Pitsenbarger, Fort Worth, Texas, Julie (Rod) Boring, Versailles, Mindy (Brian) Smith, Fort Wayne, Ind., Patti (Clay) Miller, New Baltimore, Mich.; and 73 first cousins whom he loved dearly.
He attended St. Remy Catholic Church, Russia. He was a 2006 Graduate of Versailles High School and a 2010 graduate of Xavier University, where he played baseball. He loved the outdoors and sports whether it be baseball, softball, kayaking, hiking, fishing, bowling, golf, cross fit or cooking. Basically he loved everything he tried and loved doing them with his countless number of friends. He was often referred to as a fun loving "Gentle Giant" with his infectious smile and magnanimous personality. He was an employee with Medtech Associates as a sales representative.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Remy Catholic Church, the Rev. Frank Amberger officiating. Burial will take place in St. Valbert Cemetery, Versailles.
Calling is 1-8 p.m. Monday and 9-10 a.m. Tuesday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Russia.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Versailles Diamond Club.
