Martha Hellwarth
Martha Jane Hellwarth, 93, Celina, passed away Dec. 15, 2013, at The Laurels of Shane Hill, Rockford.
She was born April 29, 1920, in Blackcreek Township, to Ralph A. and Ivadel Dudgeon Shock. She married John F. Hellwarth June 1, 1946, and he died Nov. 14, 1995.
Survivors include three children, Teala Hellwarth, Fort Wayne, Ind.; Susan (Dan) Miller, Delaware, and John S. (Mary Jo) Hellwarth, Celina; a sister, Madge Shock, Celina; four grandchildren, Kristen Hellwarth, Teaneck, N.J.; Robin Miller and Kyle Thrush, Delaware; Jordan Hellwarth, Celina, and Kent Miller, Columbus; a sister-in-law, Alice Hellwarth, Celina, and a niece and nephew.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Max (Dorothy) Shock, and a sister, Ruthana "Annie" (Charles) Hughes.
She was a 1938 graduate of Rockford High School and the International Business College in Fort Wayne. She had worked at Brookhart Insurance in Celina and in the office of the Mercer County Board of Education. She also worked with her husband on their farm, continuing her family tradition of raising Guernsey dairy cattle. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Celina, and the Ladies' Circle of the church. She enjoyed gardening, nature, working outdoors and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. John Lutheran Church, Celina. Burial will follow at North Grove Cemetery, Celina.
Calling is 1-5 p.m. Sunday at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home, Celina, and an hour prior to services Monday at the church.
