Larry Wendel
Larry Danny Wendel, 67, Celina, passed away at 6:15 a.m. March 17, 2014, at home with his family.
He was born a triplet on Aug. 4, 1946, in Mercer County, to Lisle and Norma Gehm Wendel. On Feb. 7, 1970, he married Linda Sudhoff in St. Anthony Catholic Church, and she survives.
Also surviving are his children, Marie (Tim) Miller, Hicksville, Aaron (Maggie) Wendel, Wake Forest, N.C., Danielle (Tim) Feifs, Greensboro, N.C., and Dustin Wendel, Celina; a niece, Jordana Stefano, Celina; brother and sisters-in-law, Vern (Kathy) Wendel, Celina, and Susan Wendel, Celina; sister and brother-in-law, Linda (Herman) Rogers, Sebring, Fla.; a half-brother, Kevin (Teresa) Wendel, St. Marys; a stepbrother, Wayne (Judy) Wilson, Florida; a stepsister, John (Amy) Bubp, St. Marys; nine grandchildren, Olivia, Ashtyn, Hunter, Addyson, Mckenna, Brennon, Harrison, Ava and Claudia; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a stepmother, Mary Wendel; brothers, Terry, Gary and Doug Wendel; sisters and brother-in-law, Maryann and John Roberts and Konstance Stefano; and two nephews.
He graduated from Lincolnview High School with the class of 1964. He was a resident of the Marsh Foundation from 1959-1964. He served his country in the United State Army as an aircraft mechanic crew chief during the Vietnam War from 1966-1968. He was a member of the Celina Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5713, the Celina American Legion Post 210, and the Celina Moose Lodge. He was formerly employed at Mersman Table in Celina, AVCO New Idea in Coldwater and Omni Manufacturing and retired from Reynolds & Reynolds after 25 years. He also had been a telephone contractor.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Celina, the Rev. Kenneth G. Alt officiating. Burial will follow in St. Marys Catholic Cemetery, Celina, with military honors by the Celina American Legion Post 210 and Celina VFW Post 5713.
A celebration of life will be held noon until 4 p.m. Thursday at the Celina Moose Lodge.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Celina Health Professionals or the Marsh Foundation.
