Robert Chiles
The Rev. Robert Keith Chiles, 81, formerly a pastor at a United Methodist Church in Celina, died Sept. 8, 2014.
His first wife, Carrol Hurst, died in 1997 after 41 years of marriage. In 1999, he married Dee Ann Kahn, who died in 2002. His current wife of 11 years, Carla Jeanne Fox, survives.
Also surviving are his children, Ann (Don) Wheat, Jill (Bob) Doebereiner, Susan (Doug) Talbott, Kristin (David) Markay, Lisa (Joe) Jeffries, Mandy (Dan) Fox, Adam (Karen) Fox and Robert A. (Wendy) Fox, and 15 grandchildren.
His daughter, the Rev. Kristin Markay, and granddaughter, the Rev. Katy Borhauer, are both West Ohio United Methodist ordained elders.
He served United Methodist churches in Xenia, Monfort Heights, Celina, Newark and Worthington and as a superintendent in the former Toledo District. Throughout his career, he served on numerous district, conference and community committees, including nurturing and credentialing those entering representative ministry. He also was a trustee of The Methodist Theological School in Ohio, Otterbein Senior Lifestyle Choices, Lakeside Chautauqua, and the United Methodist Children's Home (now known as UMC Family Services).
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Worthington United Methodist Church, Worthington.
Calling is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Rutherford-Corbin Funeral Home, Worthington.
