Max Roebuck
Max Roebuck, 94, Rockford, died at 5:47 p.m. Oct. 12, 2014, at The Laurels of Shane Hill, Rockford.
He was born Dec. 17, 1919, in Rockford, to Harry and Otie High Roebuck. On Aug. 14, 1948, in Celina, he married Myrtle "Bea" Bernice Sielschott, who survives in Rockford.
Also surviving are three children, Danny (Linda) Roebuck, Rockford, Janet (John) Hetz Plymouth, Ind., and Gary Roebuck, Rockford; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a son, Keith Roebuck; a granddaughter, LeeAnn Roebuck; a half sister, Desamonia Dudgeon; and a cousin, Dale Dudgeon.
He attended Rockford High School and graduated in 1927. Upon the death of his father in 1929, he commenced with his life- long career in farming. He and his wife were a life-long area farm family.
He was known for his sense of humor, inventions and practical jokes. The farm continues to operate, even when he went to coach from the sidelines.
He was a member of Rockford United Methodist Church and served as a church trustee and treasurer. He also was a member of the Old Town Run Farm Bureau Council.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home, Rockford, pastors Chip Steffy and Sharon Stonerock officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Rockford.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Thursday and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
