Herbert Brandt
Herbert Wilson Brandt, 99, Rockford, formerly of Willshire, died at 9:50 p.m. Nov. 21, 2014.
He was born Nov. 27, 1914, at the home place in Willshire where he lived for more than 95 years, to Otto Arthur and Eva Rose Wise Brandt. On Nov. 26, 1942, he married Anna L. Fahncke, who survives in Rockford.
Also surviving are five children, Janet (Ralph) Huge, Fort Wayne, Ind., Edgar (Bev) Brandt, Fort Wayne, Carole (DeWayne) Knipstein, Hoagland, Ind., Alan (Kay) Brandt, Rockford, and Cary (Kim) Brandt, Willshire; 10 grandchildren; three stepgrandsons; 17 great-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandsons.
Deceased are a brother, Carl Brandt, and three sisters, Esther Brandt Havens, Berniece Brandt Shell and Louise Brandt Baughman.
He was a lifelong farmer and member of Zion Lutheran Church, Chattanooga, where he taught Sunday school and was a member of the church council. He had been a member of the NFO and the Willshire School Board.
Services were held Sunday at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home, Rockford. Burial was at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, Chattanooga.
