Wilma Monnier
Wilma Eleanor (Budde) Monnier, 86, Russia, went on to be with her Heavenly Father on the afternoon of Feb. 3, 2015, at Hospice of Miami Valley Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy. She had been seriously ill for one week.
She was born May 2, 1928, in Maria Stein, to Lawrence and Mary Eyink Budde. On April 7, 1951, at St. John the Baptist Church, Maria Stein, she married Francis J. "Tod" Monnier, who died Aug. 17, 2009.
Surviving are three children, James (Donna) Monnier, Versailles, Steven (Jane) Monnier, Troy, and Debra (Ted) Baker, Versailles; 10 grandchildren, Tod (Laura) Monnier, West Chester, Erika and Nicholas Monnier, Versailles, Marie Monnier, Cleveland, Douglas, Jeffrey (fiancee Jordy Falor) and Jennifer Monnier, all of Troy, Kristopher (Kelly) Baker, Spring Hill, Fla., Scott Baker (Valerie Deutsch), Phoenix, Ariz., and Hollie (Jason) Ahrens, Versailles; five great-grandchildren, Kamryn and Kinsey Baker, and Camden, Juliet and Asher Ahrens; two sisters, Marian Franzer, Maria Stein, Millie (Cyril) Buehler, Laguna Woods, Calif.; and a sister-in-law, Norma Jean Budde, Celina.
Also deceased are three brothers, Harold, Elmer and infant Frederick Joseph Budde; a sister-in-law, Lucy Budde; and a brother-in-law, Carl Franzer.
She was a homemaker and had also worked for many years as a housekeeper for St. Remy parish priests. She was a member of St. Remy Catholic Church and its St. Anne's Sodality and had served as a church usher.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Caring for her children and grandchildren and helping them through life were priorities for her. She loved spending time with her family and also wanted to be known in her community as the person who would stop and ask everyone about his or her families.
One of her great loves was shopping and finding bargains. She thoroughly enjoyed building her new house and decorating it, as well as gardening and flowers. She had a passion for sports; she loved to play and watch tennis, as well as keep track of the local high school sports teams.
Along with her husband, she participated in numerous community activities over the years. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m., Saturday at St. Remy Catholic Church, Russia, the Rev. Martin Fox officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
Calling is 3-8 p.m. Friday and 9-9:45 a.m. Saturday at Gehret Funeral Home, Fort Loramie.
