Harry Miley
Harry N. Miley, 89, of Saint Marys, died 3:15 A.M. Sunday, May 31, 2015, at Vancrest Nursing Home of Saint Marys, with his family present.
Harry was born June 14, 1925, in Wapakoneta, to the late Harry S. and Florence (Koehl) Miley. On September 4, 1948, he married Margaret A. Dolph, and she survives.
He is survived by his sons, Jack N. (Cindy) Miley of Celina; David (Connie) Miley of Saint Marys and by a daughter-in-law Cheryl Miley of Saint Marys. He is also survived by his brother, Charles (Grace) Miley of Holland, Ohio; and by two sisters-in-law, Hazel Miley of Otis, Oregon and Rita Miley of Saint Marys. He is survived by seven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son James A. Miley, and by two brothers, James Miley and Neil Miley.
Harry was a 1944 graduate of Saint Marys Memorial High School. He served in the US Army in Italy during World War II. He retired from GTE (later known as Verizon and Frontier Communications), where he was employed for 35 years.
Harry's family, the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, were the joy of his life. He was a devoted member of the Holy Rosary Parish. After retirement, he attended morning mass, went to coffee with "the guys" at Pantry Pride, and took daily walks in K.C. Geiger Park. All gave him joy and deep satisfaction.
He thoroughly enjoyed family vacations to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, in addition to fishing trips to Canada with friends. Harry was a member of "Friends of Holy Rosary", "Adopt a Student", and a lifetime member of the NRA. He was a proud member of the Arbor Day Foundation, appreciating the celebrations of the memorials at K.C. Geiger Park.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 Thursday, June 4, 2015, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Saint Marys, Father Barry Stechschulte, celebrant. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4-8 P.M. Wednesday at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys, where memorial gifts may be given to either the Holy Rosary Parish Building Fund or the Arbor Day Foundation in memory of Harry.
