Joseph Ombrello
Joseph M. Ombrello age 87 of Hollywood, FL and Minster, OH passed away June 6, 2015 at his home in Hollywood following a battle with COPD especially in the last 5 months.
He was born in Ishpeming, MI on May 8,1928 to Frank and Carmella (Tasson) Ombrello.
He is survived by his wife Sara (Steinemann) and his sons and their wives Francis Michael and Mary Patricia of East Moline, IL, David and Maureen Price of Encinitas, CA, Joseph and Judith of Albemarle, NC, and Richard and Tiffany of Richmond, IN and stepdaughters Tamara and Eric Jackson of Mohrsville, PA, and Lisa and Michael Brown of Wapakoneta, OH. Joe is also survived by his brother Donald and his wife Laura of Marquette, MI, and sisters-in-law Beverly Kennard of Macomb, MI, and Elizabeth Hinchey of Minster, OH. Also surviving are 23 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and stepdaughter Dawn Cochran.
After retiring as VP and General Manager of LeROI division of Dresser Industries he became co-owner and operator of Richmond Auto Parts in Richmond, IN. Previous to this he was employed by Gardner Denver now Cooper Industries as a service and sales manager. There he was instrumental in demonstrating and selling equipment to anchor the World Trade Center in New York City.
Joe served in the U.S. Navy as an aerial photographer. He was a photographer for the Mining Journal in Marquette, MI and also worked in the iron ore mines in the Upper Peninsula.
Joe was very involved at Crystal Court, Hollywood FL, serving on several boards for many years. He previously belonged to the Rotary Club in Sidney & Richmond, Minster F.O.E. #1391 and Arrowhead Golf Club, Minster. Joe enjoyed golfing, traveling, especially transatlantic cruises & reading.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 Saturday, June 20, 2015 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster with Rev. Rick Nieberding celebrant. Burial will take place in St. Augustine Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, June19, 2015 and from 8:30 to 9:00 AM on Saturday, June 19, 2015.
