Roger Glass
Roger A. Glass, 83, a resident of Otterbein Saint Marys Retirement Community, died 4:22 P.M. Monday, August 31, 2015, at Otterbein Saint Marys.
He was born April 29, 1932, in Saint Marys, the son of William and Tessa (Vogel) Glass.
He married Elnora Brossette on June 11, 1955, in Pineville, Louisiana, and she preceded him in death on January 10, 1993.
He is survived by his seven children: Sharon Glass of Catonsville, Maryland; Beverly (Scott) Fannon of Saint Marys; Becky (Donald) Risper of Moreno Valley, California; Brenda (Dan) Warniment of Saint Marys; Roger (Kimberli) Glass of Saint Marys; Scott (Staci) Glass of Saint Marys; Kevin (Heather) Glass of Saint Marys. He is also survived by his 15 grandchildren: Ryan Fannon, Matthew Fannon, Haley Fannon, Dewahn Risper, Jennifer Risper, Derick Risper, Zach Dammeyer, Cory Dammeyer, Alex Dammeyer, Seth Warniment, Bennett Glass, Ella Glass, Cooper Glass, William Glass and Jordyn Glass. He is survived by his 7 great-grandchildren: Camron Dammeyer, Nora Fannon, Macy Fannon, Jalen Risper, Donny Risper, Jada Risper and Selah Risper. He is survived by his siblings Nellie (Ken) Krauss of Saint Marys, Dorothy Kattman of New Knoxville and Pauline Ogilby of Cleveland.
Roger was a 1950 graduate of Saint Marys Memorial High School, and a veteran of the United States Air Force. He retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Saint Marys after 43 years of service.
He was a member of Saint Paul's United Church of Christ in Saint Marys, and a member of American Legion Post 323.
He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed coon hunting, fishing, and arrowhead collecting. He was a big fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Browns, and he looked forward to going to McDonald's each day to hang out with his many friends.
Funeral rites will be held 2:00 P.M. Sunday, September 5, 2015, at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys, Pastor Dewahn Risper and Fr. Barry Stechschulte, officiants. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery, Saint Marys.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home, where memorial gifts may be given to the Fellowship of Catholic University Students or at FOCUS.org.
