Floyd Griffith
Floyd Griffith of Decatur, Alabama, died Wednesday September 9, 2015 at Community Hospital in Coldwater, Ohio.
He was born in Robbins, Tennessee to the late Ardell & Matilda (Long) Griffith. On February 21, 1951, he married Charlotte (Waggoner), who survives in Decatur, Alabama.
Also surviving are a daughter Nancy Lee & Edward Duhe of New Iberia, Louisiana, daughter-in-law Mary Ann Griffith of Grand Junction, Colorado; grandchildren Adam & Jennifer Griffith, Breland & Tyler Johnson, Lindsey & Bryan Stevens, Amanda & Kraig Cason and Eddie Duhe; three great-grandchildren, Rheagan Randolph, Julianna Johnson and Kinley Johnson, in laws John & Betty Waggoner of New Weston, Mary Thomas of Centerville, Jean & LaVern Stammen of Coldwater and Jerry & Karen Waggoner of Rossburg.
He was preceded in death by a son Michael Lynn Griffith and siblings, Grace Hughett, Veda Mullins, Beulah Ellis, Mae Hamrick, Lloyd Griffith, Hugo Griffith, Patton Griffith, Oscar Griffith & Geneva Byrd.
He was a member of Annunciation of the Lord Catholic Church in Decatur, Alabama. He retired from the US Army Air Corps after working as an aircraft mechanic at Wright Patterson in Dayton.
He then went to work in Huntsville, Alabama on the Hawk Missile at Red Stone Arsenal and at the Enewetak Atoll test facility, before retiring from Madison Research. He later volunteered at Decatur Morgan Hospital.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, September 12, 2015 at St. Louis Catholic Church, North Star with Fr. David Zink, officiating. Burial with military rites provided by the North Star American Legion will follow in St. Louis Cemetery.
