Eldine Blumhorst
Eldine E. Blumhorst age 92 of New Bremen, died on Monday, October 12, 2015 at 4:45 A.M. at the St. Marys Living Center, in St. Marys, Ohio.
She was born on April 4, 1923 in New Bremen, the daughter of the late Edward W. and Sophie M. (Nedderman) Bertke. On June 8, 1946 she married Merlin W. Blumhorst who died on December 3, 2012.
Surviving is a son William (Karen) Blumhorst of Celina, grandchildren Justin (Tiffany) Blumhorst and Katie (Dan Sok) Blumhorst both of Dayton, and great-grandchildren Whitley and Harrison Blumhorst. Along with her parents and husband, Eldine was preceded in death by her sisters Erma Speckman and Ada Kuenning, and her brother Ray Bertke.
Eldine was a life-time member of the St. Paul United Church of Christ in New Bremen. She worked for a time in assembly at Goodyear of St. Marys, and along with her husband in their butcher shop. As a homemaker, she was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
She and her husband Merlin were inseparable, and together they enjoyed playing cards, Polka dancing, and spending time with their family. Eldine was known for her delicious cooking and baking, and her caring and positive personality.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, October 16, 2015 at 10:30 A.M. at the Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home in New Bremen, with Pastor Becky Erb Strang officiating. Burial will follow in the German Protestant Cemetery of New Bremen.
Calling Hours will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2015 from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
