Howard Dickman
Howard E. Dickman, 89, New Bremen, Ohio, died 11:12 P.M. Sunday, October 11, 2015, at Vancrest of Saint Marys Nursing Home.
He was born April 1, 1926, on the family farm in New Bremen, the son of Omer and Emma (Dammeyer) Dickman. He married Ruth E. Clausing on June 26, 1949, at the First United Church of Christ in New Knoxville, and she survives at the residence.
He is also survived by his four children: David (Marilyn) Dickman of New Bremen; Keith (Jeanne) Dickman of Spring Valley, Ohio; Thomas (Jill) Dickman of New Bremen; Susan Anderson of Bowie, Maryland. He is survived by nine grandchildren: Katie Dickman; Nathan (A.J.) Dickman; Tricia (Justin) Fox; Timothy Dickman; Matthew Dickman; Kelley Dickman; Sarah (Jonathon) Chase; Emily (Victor) Evans; Nicole Anderson. He is survived by five great-grandchildren: Harper Fox; Hollis Fox; Henley Fox; Blake Dickman and Kaylee Chase. He is survived by a brother-in-law, Lee (Sandra) Clausing of Saint Marys.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by his siblings Dorothy Koenig, Lois Kellermeyer and Vernon Dickman.
Howard was a graduate of Saint Marys Memorial High School. He served in the Ohio National Guard.
He was a lifelong farmer, and he retired from New Idea Company after 40 years of service. He was a member of the Auglaize County Farm Bureau and served on the Board Of Trustees of the Bureau.
Howard was a member of Saint Paul's United Church of Christ in Saint Marys, where he had been a member of the church consistory, and was a Sunday School teacher. He loved spending time visiting shut-ins, playing cards and being with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral rites will be held 10:30 A.M. Friday, October 16, 2015, at Saint Paul's United Church of Christ in Saint Marys, the Reverend Ed Bray, officiant. Burial will follow at Pilger Ruhe Cemetery, New Knoxville.
Friends may call from 4-8 P.M. Thursday at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys, where memorial gifts may be given to Saint Paul's United Church of Christ Endowment Fund, or to a charity of the donor's choice. Friends may also call one hour prior to the funeral rites on Friday at the church.
