Nancy Dennings
Nancy Cody Dennings, 89, formerly of Saint Marys, died 8:22 P.M. Saturday, November 14, 2015, at the home of her daughter in Celina.
She was born February 8, 1926, in Hanover, New Hampshire, the daughter of Winthrop Prescott and Virginia (Thomas) Cody.
Nancy was a direct descendant of Buffalo Bill Cody.
She married Frank Dennings on August 8, 1952, in Wooster, Ohio, and he preceded her in death on September 18, 1992.
She is survived by her two children: Marcia Dennings Helentjaris of Celina, with whom she made her home; David B. (Jennifer) Dennings of Seabrook, Texas. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Thomas Cody "TC" Helentjaris of Celina; Nicholas D. Helentjaris of Alexandria, Virginia; S. Cody Dennings of Seabrook, Texas; Cameron Dennings of Seabrook, Texas; by numerous nieces and nephews. She is survived by her brother-in-law, Ralph (Dorothy) Dennings of Saint Marys; sister-in-law Marilyn Dennings of Covington, Ohio; brother-in-law Jim Eager of San Antonio, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and by a sister, Martha Eager.
Nancy attended Miami University and had worked at Gill's Gifts, Stout Insurance and the Leader Printing Company, all in Saint Marys. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Saint Marys for many years.
Nancy enjoyed rock and mineral collecting, traveling, gardening, playing bridge, watching Roughrider football and all of her winged and furry friends. She leaves behind many wonderful friends, and her long-time bridge and travel companion, Don Martindale of Saint Marys. Nancy certainly had fun!
Private family funeral rites will be held at a later date.
Memorial gifts may be given to either the Frank Dennings Education Loan through the Saint Marys Community Foundation or to the International Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva Association in honor of Cody Dennings.
