Leota Johnson
Leota G. Johnson, 94, of Ohio City, died at 2:16 p.m., Saturday at the Van Wert County Hospital.
She was born on February 19, 1921, in Middle Point, Ohio, the daughter of the late Raymond C. and Eva Almeda (Snyder) Pangle. On February 6, 1942, she married Ervin Willard Johnson who preceded her in death on December 18, 1985.
Also preceding in death were two sons, Donald E. Johnson and Richard Johnson; two brothers, Kenneth and Carl Pangle; one sister, Wileta Robbins; and one daughter-in-law, Brenda Johnson.
Family survivors include two daughters, Diana (Paul) Hines and Sue Wenning all of Rockford; one sister, Mary Pangle of Dublin, Ohio; a daughter-in-law, Gerry Johnson of Pittsburgh; ten grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren; and thirteen great great grandchildren.
Leota was a 1939 graduate of Hoaglin-Jackson High School. She was a homemaker and had worked at Colonial Nursing Home in Rockford for 15 years.
She was a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Post 346 in Ohio City and former member of the Rockford Eagles Lodge.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, November 19, 2015, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home, with Pastor Thurlow Steffy of the Rockford United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Mercer Memory Gardens near Celina.
Calling hours are Wednesday 3 - 8 p.m.
