CELINA - In 2013, Tom Wale, now Celina's police chief, kicked down the door of a residence to halt the ongoing assault of a woman.
"We couldn't get anybody to answer the door," Wale said.
In the process, Wale broke his leg from the knee down, the impact splitting the bone lengthwise. The emergency room doctor that night said he didn't know if Wale would be able to return to duty. [More]
School board has concerns about firm that did study

ST. MARYS - School board members were thrown for a loss at Thursday's special meeting when questions arose about the company that filed a feasibility study about improving or replacing the football stadium.
School board member Bob Valentine moved to halt further stadium discussions and adjourn the meeting after announcing he had discovered that Clover Development Strategies, which compiled the feasibility study, had ceased to exist in Florida in 2014. [More]

Auglaize health department says four children ingested lead
WAPAKONETA - Auglaize County Board of Health members on Thursday heard about a recent rash of children ingesting lead.
Nursing director Brenda Eiting shared information about managing lead cases, stating she had learned of four cases of lead ingestion by children in the past two months.
