Richard Speck
Richard W. "Bobo" Speck, 91, Fort Recovery, Ohio, and formerly of St.Henry, OH, died September 18, 2016 at Briarwood Village, Coldwater, OH.
He was born on July 14, 1925 in St. Henry, OH to the late John and Elizabeth (Buehler) Speck. On April 23, 1955, in Frenchtown, OH, he married Edith "Edie" (Gigandet) Speck, who survives.
Also surviving are four children, Deborah (Herbert) Muhlenkamp of Celina, OH, Lynn (Ron) Brown of Trussville, AL, Terry (Shaney) Speck of St. Henry, OH and Cheryl (Chris) Schoen of Fort Recovery, OH; 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; a sister, Leona Meyer of Centerville, OH; a brother, Elmer Speck of Coldwater, OH; sister-in-law, Leona Speck of West Milton, OH; brother-in-law, Pete Kostoff of Centerville, OH; and in-laws, Elsie Shappie of Versailles, OH, Earl Gigandet of Versailles, OH, Dorothy (Leo) Hart of Fort Recovery, OH, Mary Gigandet of Versailles, OH, Margaret (Ray) Guillozet of Troy, OH, Rita (Ron) Mayo of Greenville, OH, Jane Kunk of Portland, IN and Janet (Herbert) Hickey of Kettering, OH.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, David Speck, his siblings, Ray (Delores) Speck, Clarence (Dorothy) Speck, John Speck, Sally (Ferd) Eifert, Alvera Kostoff and Esther (Paul) Wourms, sister-in-law, Margie Speck and in-laws, Don Kunk, Bernard Shappie and Norma Jean Gigandet.
He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII on the USS LST 460 in the Pacific Campaign. He retired from the former Avco New Idea, Coldwater, Ohio.
Bobo was a member of the American Legion Post 345, Fort Recovery and was active in its honor guard for many years. He was also a member of the Progressive Sportsman Club Fort Recovery and Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Fort Recovery.
Bobo enjoyed playing cards, camping, fishing, listening to the Cincinnati Reds and being with his family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Fort Recovery, with Fr. Matthew Feist officiating. Burial will follow at St. Henry Cemetery, St. Henry, OH.
Calling is 2:00 pm-8:00 pm Wednesday and 9:00 am-10:00 am Thursday at Brockman-Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery. Military graveside honors will be conducted by the American Legion.
