Norene A. Fleagle
Norene A. Fleagle, 91, of St. Marys, OH died 4:50 a.m. Wednesday April 12, 2017 at Otterbein–St. Marys.
She was born September 4, 1925 in Lancaster, OH to Nelson and Lillian (Roley) Utley. On September 7, 1947 she married Dr. LaMar Fleagle, who died November 12, 2005.
She is survived by: son Jim (Karen) Fleagle of Van Wert, OH; son David Fleagle of New Orleans, LA; daughter Susan (Richard) Dittes of Swanton, OH; son Dr. Kurt (Warren) Fleagle of Centerville, OH; 5 grandchildren: Ben (Amy) Fleagle, Andrew Dittes, Josh (Alison) Bohman, Nicholas (Outi) Dittes, Coby Bohman; 3 great-grandchildren: Mackenzie Fleagle, Kelsey Fleagle, Sawyer Bohman; sister Linda Straits of Lancaster, OH; sister Sally Walsh of Bossier City, LA; son-in-law Randy Waller of Findlay, OH; several cousins; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by: parents Nelson and Lillian Utley; husband Dr. LaMar Fleagle; daughter Lynne A. Bohman; brother Vern Utley; sister Carla Fritchlee.
She received a bachelor's degree in home economics from Capital University in Columbus in 1947. After moving to St. Marys, she worked as a homemaker and raised five children with LaMar. Her children remember her as a kind, devoted mother who encouraged them to develop their talents and pursue their dreams.
Norene was an accomplished seamstress who enjoyed dressmaking, cooking and baking. She also enjoyed gardening and drying flowers to make arrangements. In her later years, she enjoyed painting with watercolors.
Together, Norene and LaMar enjoyed traveling and took trips and cruises to various parts of the world. She loved music and played piano and sang in her church choir. She was also active in several bridge clubs, Shakespeare Club and Mothers' Study Club.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in St. Marys.
Rites are scheduled to begin 11:00 a.m. Saturday April 15, 2017 at the Meyer Chapel of Otterbein-St. Marys. The Rev. Bruce McDaniel will officiate the services. Burial will follow at the Elm Grove Cemetery, in St. Marys.
Visitation 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. on Saturday at Otterbein.
