WAPAKONETA - As the 165th Auglaize County Fair winds to a close today, attendance numbers are closing in on those from last year.

Assistant fair manager Jack Hayzlett on Friday said attendance figures calculated so far are within 2 percent of last year's attendance of 55,000.

CELINA - The city was hit with a power outage at around 5:45 p.m. Friday, the second one to occur this week.

Mayor Jeff Hazel said Dayton Power & Light engineers experienced a problem while conducting tests on the company-owned substation on Sugar Street.

More kids chose to be active this summer by signing up for recreation programs, area coaches and officials reported.

Sports such as baseball, softball and swimming drew children out of the house and into parks, Celina Recreation Department Director Darl Strable said.
