Marian Fortkamp
Marian E. Fortkamp, age 96 of St. Rose, died on Sunday, September 24, 2017 at the Laurels of Shane Hill, Rockford.
Marian was born December 22, 1920 in Albion, NY, to the late Joseph and Agnes (Wilkes) Dibley. On June 8, 1948, in St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Albion, NY, she married Edward A. Fortkamp, and he preceded her in death on July 5, 2002.
Marian is survived by her children, Tony & Shirley Fortkamp of Lancaster, Terry Fortkamp of New Marshfield, Peg Fortkamp of Delaware, Bets & Don Eischen of St. Anthony, Gene & Grace Fortkamp of Rossburg, and Angela Fortkamp of Cleveland Heights. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
Marian was the last living member of her family, and is preceded in death by siblings Loraine & Harland Swan, Louie & Erma Dibley, Joe & Helen Dibley, and Don & Mary Dibley; and in-laws, Herman Fortkamp, Norbert Fortkamp, Ray Fortkamp, Lee Fortkamp, Frank Fortkamp, Bernadine Mueller, Erma Bruggeman, and Regina Fortkamp.
She was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church, St. Rose. Marian received her Bachelor's degree from the University of Dayton, and became a teacher. She taught at St. Joe School, and St. Rose School, and later became the Religious Education Director and a religion teacher for St. Rose.
Marian was an active and creative mother, and homemaker. She loved to travel to New York to visit with family, and loved reunions.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at St. Rose Catholic Church, St. Rose. Burial will follow in St. Rose Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in St. Henry from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, September 27, and from 9:00 AM to 9:45 AM on Thursday, September 28.
