Mary Rosengarten Gearing
Mary "Marie" Rosengarten Gearing, age 95, New Bremen, Ohio, passed away of natural causes Saturday evening, December 23, 2017, at her Elmwood Assisted Living home with her family and caretakers by her side.
She was born February 19, 1922, in Frenchtown, Ohio, to the late August and Josephine (Smith) Goubeaux. On July 15, 1944, in Celina, KS, Marie was married to Harold Rosengarten and he preceded her in death in 1987. On March 17, 1995, she then married Donald Gearing who preceded her in death in 2000.
She is survived by one son, Ron & Theresia Rosengarten of Fort Loramie; two grandchildren, Craig & Deb Rosengarten and Cherie & Craig Drees all of Fort Loramie; five great-grandchildren: Tanner and Eli Rosengarten, Danielle & Chad Rethman, Stephanie & Marcus Turner, and Brad & Danielle Drees along with five great-great-grandchildren; six step children: Joe Gearing of New York, NY, Candice & Richard Brown of Atlanta, GA, Robert & Kathy Gearing of Wapakoneta, Elaine & Rick Roby of Oregon, Blaine & Michelle Gearing of Lima, and Julia & Roy Wood of Florida; thirteen step grandchildren: Doug and Brittany Brown, Natalie and Miles Gearing, Philip, Jessica and Lauren Roby, Joe, Chris, Lexis, and Collin Gearing, Ben and Boe Wood along with eight step great-grandchildren and one sister, Ruth Mary Larger of Kettering. She was preceded in death by one great-grandson, Jared Rosengarten and five siblings.
Marie was retired from General Motors of Dayton, formerly known as Frigidaire Delco Air, where she had been employed 31 years. She also had been a cake decorator at the former Coppess Foods in Minster. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, the Name of the North Local Club, Catholic Widow's and Widower's Club and a past member of the Minster Eagles Ladies Auxiliary. She loved spending time with her family. She also enjoyed many afternoons of playing cards with her friends at Elmwood.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Friday, December 29, 2017, at St. Michael Church in Fort Loramie with Rev. Steven Shoup presiding. Interment will follow at St. Michael's Cemetery.
