Lenore Otte
Lenore C. (Barhorst) Otte, age 90, formerly of North Star, passed away of natural causes at Briarwood Village in Coldwater, Ohio, on Saturday afternoon, January 27, 2018.
She was born September 23, 1927, in Minster, Ohio, to the late Edward and Agnes (Gariety) Barhorst. On October 23, 1948, at St. Michael Catholic Church, Ft. Loramie, Lenore married Albert J. Otte who preceded her in death on September 7, 2000.
Surviving are five children: Judy & Tedd Short of Minster, Janet Campbell of Tipp City, Jerry & Peg Otte of Maria Stein, Sylvia & Dave Lehman of Minster, Annette & Tom Kremer of New Weston and daughter-in-law, Carol Otte of Centerville; 15 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; six siblings: Tom & Bernice Barhorst of Anna, Mary O'Halloran of Dayton, Carol & Leroy Lochtefeld of Sidney, Barb & Larry Francis of Russia, Ed & Alice Barhorst of Sidney, Jane & Vernon Monnin of Covington, and sisters-in-law: Dorothy Gaerke of Ft. Recovery and Irene & Jerry Reinhard of Ft. Recovery along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one Son, Jim Otte; a son-in-law, David Campbell; one great-granddaughter, Allison Sibert; three siblings, Ruth & Alvin Jutte, Virgil & Beverly Barhorst and Leonard Barhorst; brothers & sisters-in-law, Bill O'Halloran, Hilda & Frank Stammen, Lauretta & Lawrence Meyer, Marie & Aloys Unrast, Alvina & Richard Kunk, Urban Otte, Louis & Irene Otte, Bernadine & Ed Stammen, Alma & Jerry Fullenkamp, Leonard & Loretta Otte and Bernard Gaerke.
Mrs. Otte had been a dedicated homemaker. She was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, St. Ann's Rosary Alter Sodality and the North Star American Legion-Ladies Auxiliary. Lenore enjoyed her family, antiquing and tending to her flowers.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Friday, February 2, 2018, at St. Louis Catholic Church in North Star with Rev. David L. Zink celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Louis Cemetery.
Friends may call Thursday 2:00 to 8:00 PM at Gehret Funeral Home in Fort Loramie and Friday 9:00 to 10:00 AM at the Church.
Memorials may be made to South Dakota Indian Church/St. Francis Mission or the Maria Stein Shrine of Holy Relics.
