Leon Brunswick
Leon H. Brunswick, age 75, of Carthagena, formerly of St. Henry, passed away Thursday, March 29, 2018 at The Gardens at St. Henry.
He was born July 22, 1942 in Celina, to Joseph & Cleopha (Eckstein) Brunswick. On July 23, 1966 he married Ruth (Braun) Brunswick and she survives in Carthagena.
He is also survived by his children: Connie & Stan Frazee of New Bremen, Ron & Julie Brunswick of Maria Stein, Bernice & George Lefeld of St. Henry, Barb & Chris Larka of Cincinnati, Dan Brunswick of St. Henry, and Jenny & Mark Broerman of North Star. Leon is also survived by his 13 grandchildren: Neven and Marissa Frazee, Eric, Nicole, Emily, and Leah Brunswick, Megan, Alex, Scott, Shane, and Adam Lefeld, and Jessica and Kylie Larka, as well as siblings: Anna Marie Schlamb-Hale of Greenville, Ken & Ann Brunswick of Bryant, IN, Eileen & Jerry Bohman of Chickasaw, Gene Brunswick of Coldwater, Roger & Kathy Brunswick of St. Henry, Cy & Donna Brunswick of St. Peter, and Ginny & Paul Fortkamp of St. Peter; and in-laws: Dorothy Sudhoff of St. Anthony, Rosemary & George Bruns of Chickasaw, Betty Meyer of Newport, Janet Braun of St. Henry, Marlene & Roman Fullenkamp of Bryant, IN, Kathy & Richard Highley of Celina, and Karen & Paul Boeke of Cassella.
Leon was preceded in death by his parents, a son Bill Brunswick, a brother Lester Brunswick, and in-laws Elmer Schlamb Jr., Jay Hale, Jeanette Brunswick, Herman Sudhoff, Ernie Meyer, and Richard Braun.
He was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church and the St. Henry Knights of Columbus. Leon retired from Mercer County Community Hospital as the supervisor of the Maintenance Dept. He enjoyed wood working, fishing, watching his grandchildren's sporting events, spending time with his family, and talking with anyone he met. He never knew a stranger. He could fix anything.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at St. Henry Catholic Church, St. Henry. Burial will follow in St. Henry Cemetery.
Friends may call on Monday, April 2, from 2:00 to 8:00 pm and on Tuesday from 9:00 to 10:00 am at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, St. Henry.
