Thurman Starr
Thurman Starr, age 72, of Celina, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2018 at his residence in Celina.
He was born on August 10, 1945 in West Virginia to the late Newman and Margie (Lucas) Starr. On April 9, 1965 he married Donna (Frazier) Starr, who preceded him in death.
Thurman is a father of four loving children, Angel (Michael) Billger, Misti (Mike Cetinske) Wagner and Krista Starr, all of Celina, and Douglas Scott Starr who preceded him in death. Thurman is also survived by a brother, George (Jane) Starr; two sisters, Ethel (Kenneth) Ernestine Blankenship and Karen (Terry) Clay; and a special friend of many years, Alice Maynard. Thurman is also a grandfather to 10 grandchildren and a great grandfather to 17 great grandchildren.
Thurman retired as a Canteen Manager at the Celina VFW after 40 years of employment. He was known by many and truly enjoyed working at the VFW. Thurman enjoyed working, gambling, playing cards with his buddies at the VFW, and most importantly spending time with his family. Thurman's eyes would unconditionally light up when he knew his grandchildren were going to pay him a visit. He will be missed by his loving family.
Thurman was a member of the Celina Moose Lodge #1473, VFW Post #5713, Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge #1291, and the Celina Masonic Lodge #241.
Per Thurman's request, private family services will be held.
Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association.
