County gets no bids for wetlands project

By Tom Stankard
CELINA - Mercer County commissioners received no bids for the Windy Point Wetlands Restoration Project earlier this week.
Ag Solutions Coordinator and project coordinator Theresa Dirksen has said plans for the project are to restore 14.3 acres of wetlands and upland habitat on land owned by the county. The goal is to cut off nutrient loading tied to lake pollution.
She said contractors didn't submit bids because they wouldn't have had enough time to complete the project before the deadline, and it was too late to move the deadline back.
The project will be rebid with any submissions to be opened on Aug. 13, she said, noting the goal is to have the project completed by May 1.
In other business, commissioners received three bids for pavement striping of various county and township roads. Oglesby Construction, Toledo, submitted a $67,303 bid; Aero-Mark Inc., Streetsboro, $69,963; and A & G Safety, Amelia, $70,021.
The bids will be reviewed by the county engineer's office and commissioners before a recommendation is made.
