Mary Davis
Mary M. (Gibson) Casler Davis, age 91, of St. Marys, passed away Friday, December 6, 2019, at Vancrest of St. Marys.
Born August 31, 1928, in New Weston, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Irwin Spencer and Iva May Arnett Gibson.
Mary married George Casler, who died in 1960. She then married Robert L. Davis on December 8, 1961, and he preceded her in death on January 28, 2012.
She is survived by her daughter, Jolene Burke of St. Marys, son, Mark A. (Sonya) Davis of Fort Myers, Florida, four grandchildren: Douglas Burke, Nicholas Burke, Beth Burke, and Rachel Davis, seven great grandchildren: Allie, Izzie, Landen, Logan, Breah, Brinlee and Bronson, and a brother-in-law, James L. Davis of Union City, Indiana.
She was preceded in death by three children: Douglas L. Casler, Ronald L. Davis, and Carol Elaine Davis, a sister and four brothers: Gerald (Genevieve) Gibson Sr., Jake Gibson, Doyle (Katherine) Gibson, Bettie (Glenn) Sherer, Ray Gibson and Carl Gibson, and a sister-in-law, Lois Davis.
After attending school in Darke County, Mary was employed in Quality Control at Goodyear in St. Marys, retiring in 1990.
For nearly 30 years after her retirement, Mary and her husband Bob lived in Florida. After Bob's passing, Mary returned to Ohio, living with her daughter in St. Marys the last six years.
Mary was a member of Hawthorne Chapter #119 Order of the Eastern Star in St. Marys, the 850 Boosters Club, and the Fort Myers Beach Shrine Club. She served as the MRDD Day Camp Director for 3 years at Tawawa Park in Sidney.
Mary enjoyed quilting, and made many quilts for patients at the hospital. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting hats for babies. She loved her grandkids and great grandkids.
Calling Hours are 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon on Saturday, December 14, at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home in Celina. Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 14, at Union City Cemetery in Union City, Indiana.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the ABC Center in New Bremen or Grand Lake Hospice.
