Kerry Roode
Kerry Roode, 62, of Saint Marys, died suddenly at 8:31 P.M. Tuesday, December 24, 2019, in the emergency department of Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, Saint Marys.
He was born July 24, 1957, in Lima, Ohio, the son of Chester and Mary Jane (Keysor) Roode.
He married Teresa Lukac on June 20, 1980; she survives at the residence.
He is also survived by his children: Benjamin (Heather) Roode of Amman, Jordan; Chris Roode of Greenville, Ohio; William (Kim) Roode of Wilmington, Ohio.
He is survived by his siblings: Terry (Vicki) Roode of Coldwater; Emma Jane Schrolucke of Saint Marys; Jean Ann Shirley of Wintergarden, Florida.
He is survived by extended family Terry (Anita) Lukac of New Knoxville; Daniel (Linda) Lukac of Oxford, Ohio; Kathy (Darl) Bishir of Saint Marys.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by a brother-in-law, Ken Schrolucke.
Kerry graduated from New Knoxville High School in 1975. He earned an associates degree from OSU and attended the Ohio Peace Officers Academy.
Kerry retired from his police career in 2003 as Chief of the Saint Marys Police Department.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Saint Marys.
He enjoyed the shooting sports, especially cleaning and repairing firearms. He was a real history buff, and a member of the Grand Lake Lodge of the Fraternal Order of Police
Funeral rites will be held 10:30 A.M. Monday, December 30, 2019, at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys, with President William Davis, officiant. Burial will follow at Willow Grove Cemetery, New Bremen.
Friends may call from 2-6 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home, where memorial gifts may be given to the Cancer Association of Auglaize County.
