Donna Ferguson
Donna Nadene (Elder) Ferguson, 86, passed away Wed-nesday, December 25, 2019, at Wellbrooke of Crawfordsville, Indiana.
Born May 13, 1933, in Beemer, Nebraska, she was the daughter of Wallace Bruce and Clara Isbell (Smith) Elder.
Her husband, Edmund E. Ferguson, whom she married June 21, 1952, preceded her in death May 26, 2010.
Donna was a graduate of Davenport (Iowa) High School. She was a member of St. Joseph's Ladies and an avid bridge player, for many years a member of Yadirf Bridge Club, loved fishing, especially wintertime in Florida for over 30 years with her husband Edmund, as well as, spending time with her family. Donna also enjoyed cooking and was writing a cookbook.
At one time, Donna did a five minute segment of Parke County News Weekdays on Brazil radio. Also, for many years, she had a booth at Nancy's Downtown Mall, Terre Haute and Rockville Antique Mall.
Donna was a life-long Democrat and had been a Cub Scout leader, a Brownie Scout leader, past President of Current Literature Club, Rockville Tri Kappa, St. Joseph's Altar Sodality, member of St. Joseph's Parish Council and the only female President of St. Joseph's Parish Council as well as Parke County Democrat Vice-Chairman for over 10 years.
Survivors include three children, Jana (Steve) Hopf of Celina, Ohio, Dr. Jon (Pam) Ferguson and Jamie (Mike) Baird, both of Rockville; nine grandchildren, Dr. Matthew (Kourtney) Hopf of Albion, Dr. Amanda Ferguson (Justin) Furr of Fishers, Mitchell (Emily) Hopf of Clarksville, Ohio Audra Ferguson (Kevin) Allen of Franklin, Mark (Kristin) Hopf of New Bremen, Ohio, Jon Adam (Pat Clements) Ferguson of Franklin, Jennafer (Fiance Alex King) Baird, Jessica (Shane) Divine and William Edmund (Billy) Baird, all of Rockville; 17 great-grandchildren, Jonah, Paige, Adelaide, Lily and Squire Hopf of Albion, Thomas, Evan, Max and Will Furr of Fishers, Mia and Finley Hopf of Clarksville, Ohio, Drew and Reed of Franklin, Josie, Nora and Grant Hopf of New Bremen, Ohio and Briggs Divine of Rockville; sister-in-law, Marcie Richardson of Jacksonville, Florida; brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Dennis and Donna Ferguson of Cynthiana, Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; and two brothers.
Visitation will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 201 E. Ohio Street, Rockville, Indiana, from 9 to 11 a.m., Saturday, December 28.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the church at 11:15 a.m. with Father Varghese Maliakkal. Burial will follow at Memory Garden Cemetery, Rockville.
