Newman Clapp
Newman Bryant Clapp III, age 88 of Celina, Ohio passed away February 17, 2020 at 1:20 am.
He was born in Springfield, Massachusetts on August 11, 1931 to the late Newman B. Clapp Jr. and Lucellia (Kelton) Clapp. On November 28, 1981 he married Mary L. Ross and she survives at the residence.
Newman was a 1949 graduate of Alger High School in Alger, Ohio and attended Toledo University. He retired from Westinghouse and AO Smith Small Motor Division as a senior service engineer.
He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Celina, Celina Masonic Lodge #241 and Order of Eastern Star #91 in Celina. He enjoyed HO gauge trains and reading.
Other survivors include his stepchildren, Joetta Koishor, Decatur, Indiana, Mark (Lori Beth) Wolfe, Addison, Texas, Karen (Layne) Taylor, Des Moines, Iowa and Sandra (Tom) Newkirk, Des Moines, Iowa; grandchildren, Ryan Muhlenkamp, Berne, Indiana, Erin (Brandon) Bercot, Petroleum, Indiana, Andrew Muhlenkamp, Geneva, Indiana, Megan Wolfe, Spring, Texas, Lessa Chrest-Green, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Michelle (Gary) Mick, Great Bend, Kansas, Jacob (A.J.) Chrest, Great Bend, Kansas, Sherrie Stabb, Great Bend, Kansas, Shellie Sanders, Larned, Kansas, Billy (Tara) Sanders, Great Bend, Kansas, Veronica (Cody) Allen, Great Bend, Kansas, Rachel (Cody ) Jennings, Minneapolis, Minnesota, Tyler (Megan) Ferris, Austin, Texas, Maxwell Newkirk, Des Moines, Iowa, Alex Newkirk, Des Moines, Iowa and Baxter Newkirk, Des Moines, Iowa; 16 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; a cousin, Barbara (Allen) Green, Springfield, Massachusetts; many brothers and sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Chrest; a sister, Louise Clapp; and a son-in-law, Robert Koishor.
Visitation hours will be from 4:00 pm-7:00 pm on Thursday, February 20, 2020, at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina. To conclude the visitation Eastern Star and Masonic membership services will be held at 7:00 pm.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, February 21, 2020 at the St. John Lutheran Church in Celina, with Rev. Jeff Gramza officiating; where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Private graveside services will be held at Lawndale Cemetery in Ridgeville, Indiana.
