Donald Jones
Donald L. "Donnie" Jones, 81, went to be with Jesus Sunday morning, March 15, 2020, at his home near Convoy.
Donnie was born on September 15, 1938, in Decatur, Indiana to Charles "Casey" Jones and Opal (Ray) Jones.
He was a 1956 graduate of Willshire High School where he was a member of the state runner-up boys' basketball team. He worked 34 years for B.F. Goodrich in Woodburn before retiring in 1994.
Donnie was a die-hard fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cincinnati Reds and NASCAR. He loved to putter around his yard and spend time with his little "buddy" Rosie, his dog. He was a member of the Willshire Union United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge 1197 of Van Wert and the Convoy Historical Society.
He married Jane (Post) Jones on August 29, 1990. They enjoyed trips to Tennessee and spending time with family and friends. Donnie could strike up a conversation with anyone.
Surviving are his wife, Jane of Convoy; two sons, Jonathan (Angie) Jones of Ansonia, Ohio and Jeffrey (Cathy) Jones of Celina; his daughter, Vicki (David) Schaber of Harlan, Indiana; nine grandchildren, Daniel (Jessica) Schaber, Jeremy (Lalinda Myers) Schaber, Laura Schaber, Timothy Schaber, Riley Jones, Caleb Jones, Connor Jones, Kadan Jones, and Keigan Jones; and two great grandchildren, Jaiden and Kaydence Schaber. He is also survived by two sisters, Carolyn (Phil) Shoaf of Willshire and Linda (Ferd) Laux of Anchorage, Alaska; and a brother-in-law, Jon (Sharon) Post. There are also many extended family members who loved him as well.
Memorial services will be scheduled at a later date.
Preferred memorials are to the family.
