Richard Oman
Richard Allan "Dick" Oman, age 84, of St. Marys, Ohio and formerly of Celina, Ohio passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2020 at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus.
He was born on July 30, 1935 in Richwood, Ohio to the late Frances Edward and Francis (Schertzer) Oman. On July 23, 1961 he married Marilyn Lucille Skidmore, who survives in St. Marys.
He is also survived by his son and daughter-in-law Jeff (Janine) Oman of Columbus, daughter and son-in-law Jodi (Dan) Uetrecht of Oregonia, five grandchildren Erik Oman, Greg Oman, Tyler Uetrecht, Kasey Uetrecht and Trey Uetrecht, three great grandchildren and his sister-in-law Jane Oman of Brookville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Roger Oman, and his sister Nancy Oman.
Richard graduated from Richwood High School with the Class of 1953. Then proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1954 until 1956. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Business from The Ohio State University.
Richard retired from GTE after thirty-one years of service. After retiring he worked for the Mercer County Commissioner for six years. He was a Past President of the Celina Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Celina Zoning Board and a former Board Member for the Mercer County Council on Aging.
He was a member of the Grand Lake United Methodist Church in Celina. Richard also held membership with the Mercer County Sportsman Association and the NRA. He was a Charter Member of "The National WWII Museum in New Orleans, LA., and a member to The Ohio State University Alumni Association.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday July 31, 2020 at the Lehman-Dzendzel Funeral Home in Celina, with Rev. Diane Mendelson officiating. Richard will be buried in the Claibourne Cemetery in Richwood, Ohio.
Friends may call from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Friday before services at the funeral home. Attendees are to wear a mask, respect the safety of the family, during services, observe social distancing and refrain from close physical contact. Please follow the guidelines dictated by the Ohio Department of Health, due to the National Health Concerns of COVID-19.
