Ruth Kuck
Ruth W. Kuck, 97, of Saint Marys, died 4:45 P.M. Sunday, December 6, 2020, at Elmwood of New Bremen.
She was born September 28, 1923, in New Bremen, Ohio, the daughter of Lewis and Clara (Dicke) Poppe. She married Vernon Kuck on June 12, 1943; he preceded her in death on December 12, 2010.
Ruth is survived by her children: Ronald (Carol) Kuck of Columbus; Susan (David) Allen of Wooster, Ohio; Ted (Kay) Kuck of Saint Marys; Jay (Cheryl) Kuck of Saint Marys. She is survived by her grandchildren: Crysten (Brendan) Nageotte of Hartland, Michigan; Melissa Kuck of Austin, Texas; David (Heather) Kuck of Santa Clarita, California; Joshua (Andrea) Kuck of Chelsea, Michigan; Keri (Kurt) Oberle of Charleston, South Carolina; Lindsey (Bryan) Gilbert of John's Island, South Carolina; Karl (Abi) Kuck of Saint Marys; Stuart (Abby) Kuck of New Knoxville; Lara (Jack) Liou of Cincinnati; Tynan (Catherine) Kuck of Simpsonville, South Carolina; Katrina Boylan of Columbus; Calen (Tiffany) Kuck of Dayton; Jace Kuck of Columbus. Additionally, she is survived by 28 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings: Carl Poppe of Carlsbad, California; Paul (Carol) Poppe of Seattle, Washington.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister and brother-in-law, Rachel and George Olin; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Poppe; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Wallace and Marian Kuck; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Paul and Carol Kuck.
Ruth was a graduate of New Bremen High School. She earned her BS from Ohio Northern University and her MS from Wright State University. She retired from New Knoxville School, where she taught elementary school for many years. She was also the co-owner of Kuck Turkey Farm.
Ruth was a very kind, friendly person, and very serious about her Christian faith. She was active in Gideons, and she read the Bible from cover to cover each year for 40 years. She also enjoyed working crossword puzzles, entering all kinds of contests, sewing, and crocheting.
She and her husband Vernon had a private plane for many years, and enjoyed the fellowship of the Wapakoneta Flying Club. She loved her grandchildren and especially enjoyed cooking for them.
Private, family only, funeral rites will be held 10:00 Monday, December 14, 2020, in the Ministry Center of the First Church of New Knoxville, the Reverend Joel Bucklin and grandson Reverend Joshua Kuck, officiants. Burial will follow at Pilger Ruhe Cemetery, New Knoxville.
Memorial gifts may be given to either First Church of New Knoxville or Gideons International.
