Joshua Etgen
Joshua David Etgen, age 24, of Mendon, passed away due to injuries sustained in a traffic accident near Poneto, Indiana, on Wednesday morning, December 16, 2020.
He was born October 21, 1996, in Coldwater, the son of Darrell & Nancy (Hansel) Etgen, who survive in Mendon, along with his sister, Claudia.
Joshua is also survived by his best friend and significant other, Richard Medina, of Marion, Indiana, grandparents: Rick & Linda Etgen, great grandparents: Orland & Doris Freewalt, and an aunt, Kay Hansel, all of Mendon, an uncle, Tim Hansel, of Celina, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by grandparents: Claude & Leona Hansel, great grandparents: Richard Etgen and Phyllis Furr, and an aunt, April Etgen Buckler.
Joshua was a 2015 graduate of Parkway High School. He loved being in the school band, playing the trombone. Joshua was a member of the National Honor Society at Parkway. He had attended Wright State University-Lake Campus and UPFW (Purdue University Fort Wayne).
Joshua was an active participant in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life events. He was a member of Mt. Tabor Church of God, Celina.
Joshua was an assembly worker at the Eaton Corp. in Van Wert, and had also been employed at the Kozy Korner Restaurant in Mendon, and the Little Kozy in Spencerville.
He loved Great Danes. Joshua was a kind, big-hearted, sweet gentle soul, who never met a stranger, and would help anyone.
Funeral Services will be held at Mt. Tabor Church of God, 9744 U.S. 127 North, Celina, at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 22, with Pastor Darwin Dunten officiating. Burial will follow at Mendon Cemetery.
Calling Hours are 1:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, December 21, and from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, at Mt. Tabor Church. Those attending are required to wear masks, practice social distancing as much as possible, and follow the COVID-19 guidelines established by Governor DeWine and the Ohio Department of Health.
