Jeanette Meyer
Jeanette M. Meyer, age 73, of Chickasaw, Ohio, passed away January 15, 2021, peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born August 15, 1947, at the former Gibbons Hospital, Celina, OH, to the late Herman and Mary (Hess) Fullenkamp. On August 5, 1972, she married Larry Meyer of Egypt, at St. Henry Catholic Church, and he survives.
She is survived by four children; Joe & Mary Meyer of Minster, Kelly & Dan Poeppleman of Chickasaw, Ted & Jennifer Meyer of New Bremen, and Kerri & Ryan Manwell of Minster. She was the proud grandmother to ten grandchildren; Owen & Seth Meyer, Devin, Haley & Kayla Heitkamp, Ava & Brayden Meyer, and Katie, Alli and Ryan (R.J.) Manwell. She is also survived by four siblings, Bob (Dottie) Fullenkamp of Fort Recovery, Mary Ann & (Ed) Dirksen of Fort Recovery, Tony (Rosie) Fullenkamp of Fort Loramie, and Dorothy Borger of St. Henry; brother-in-law, Paul Gehret of North Star; and in-laws, Ralph Meyer, St. Henry, Harold & Hilda Meyer of Minster, Sally Behr of Fort Loramie, Dale & Shirley Meyer of St. Marys, and Lavern Meyer of Sidney.
She was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law; Mildred and Gene Huelskamp; her sister, Bernice Gehret; brother-in-law, Jim Borger; in-laws, Jean Meyer, Roger Behr, Orville Meyer, Eileen & Giles Ronnebaum, and Lester & Ginny Meyer.
Jeanette was a survivor of the polio epidemic of the early 1950s. There wasn't anything that kept her back from making a fun and productive life for herself, her family and her friends. She was always up for the challenge. Being limited to always wearing flat heeled shoes, Jeanette lightheartedly made numerous requests to family that she would like to be buried wearing red high heeled shoes so she could dance in them in heaven.
Jeanette was a 1965 graduate of Our Lady of Bethlehem Prep School, Columbus, OH. She then was a linotype operator at The Daily Standard for eight years. After starting a family, she babysat for several years in her home. Her employment ended in retirement from Visions, Celina, where she spent fifteen years putting her finely tuned, artistry talents to work.
Jeanette was a member of the Precious Blood Catholic Church, Chickasaw, OH, its Ladies Sodality and the church choir. Jeanette had a beautiful singing voice and shared this talent singing solo or duet for parish services and many weddings. For many years she sang with The Happy Habits, which she dearly loved. The group donated money made to charities in the area.
Her family credited Jeanette as being a great seamstress. While her children were young and in 4-H, she helped as an advisor. Camping with family and friends was her favorite pastime. Most of all, Jeanette had a great sense of humor which will surely be missed by all. Her contagious smile will always be remembered.
