Barb Huelsman
Barb Huelsman, age 71, of St. Henry, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 17, 2021, at Mercy Health - St. Rita's in Lima. She was born March 21st, 1950 to Ray & Irene (Westgerdes) Kahlig. On June 1st, 1974, she married Richard Huelsman, who still resides in St. Henry.
Barb's memory continues to live on in her sons and their families: Trent & Erin (Keller) of Maria Stein, Chris & Renee (Post) of St. Henry, Chad & Kate (Gross) of Cincinnati, Kevin & Jennifer (Huber) of Findlay, Kurt & Kylie (Elking) of St. Henry and her grandchildren Samuel, Charles, Stella, & Oliver; Jack, Ben, & Ava; Will & Caroline; Jameson, Mason, & Liam; and Miles.
She also lives on in the loving memories of her siblings: Larry & Theresa Grube, Joe & Ruth Kahlig, Bernice Tittle, Roger & Kate Sudhoff, Mike & Rita Knapschaefer, Chuck & Lucy Staugler, John & Diane Kahlig, Tim & Mary Heinrichs, Jim & Sue Kahlig, Gary & Margie Wendel, Bob & Bets Gillis, and Tom Kahlig. Her mother-in-law, Marie Huelsman, and in-laws Donald & Connie Muhlenkamp, Linda Gehl, Dennis & Sandy Huelsman, Mike & Lori Huelsman, Mike & Nancy Homan, Jim & Bec Braun, Dan & Kathy Giere, Peg Huelsman, John & Diane Deiters, and Doug Huelsman. Barb was preceded in death by her parents Ray & Irene Kahlig, father-in-law Vince Huelsman, sister-in-law Marilyn Huelsman, and brother-in-law Roger Gehle.
She was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church, Right to Life, Alter Rosary Sodality, and St. Henry D of I. She was employed with the family business along with being a wonderful homemaker. She also loved the simple things in life: attending Bible studies with friends, gardening and tending to her flowers, showing selfless acts of affection towards others, cooking for anyone and everyone, staying connected with family members, enjoying a good cup of coffee, indulging in a bowl of ice cream, and above all, spending time adoring her kids and grandkids.
A Catholic funeral mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, September 23, 2021, at St. Henry Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the St. Henry Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday, September 22, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Thursday from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in St. Henry. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Association of Mercer County.
