Edgar Harter
Edgar "Mack" Harter, 68, of Fort Recovery, Ohio, passed away during the early hours of Friday, November 19, 2021, at Mercer County Community Hospital in Coldwater, Ohio.
He was born on June 7, 1953, in Portland, Indiana, to the late Darwin and Doris (Granger) Harter.
In addition to his parents, Mack was preceded in death by his twin children, Matthew and Melissa Harter.
Mack was a 1971 graduate of Fort Recovery High School. After high school, he continued his education at Mount Vernon Nazarene College and Northwest Nazarene College, where he completed his bachelors degree in biology. Mack worked for Cast Metals Technology in Winchester, Indiana, retiring in 2021 after working there for 38 years.
Mack loved the Lord and was an active member of the Fort Recovery Church of the Nazarene, where he taught Sunday School for over 45 years. In his free time, Mack loved to collect coins, baseball cards, and antiques. He even had a small antique business. He was a avid sports fan and enjoyed rooting on the Ohio State Buckeyes, Columbus Blue Jackets, and the Pittsburgh Pirates, to name a few. Mack loved the outdoors; he found great beauty in God's creations. He and his wife, Melanie, enjoyed traveling, especially out west to see the mountains. Most of all, Mack loved his family and he will be missed by many.
Mack is survived by his wife of 43 years, Melanie (Robbins) Harter, whom he married on July 22, 1978; his children, Melinda (Adam Liette) Harter and Joel (Ashley Konz) Harter, all of Greenville; his grandchildren, Josh Garrett, Kylar and Luke Harter (mother-Nikki Garrett); his siblings, Elizabeth (Alvin) Lehman of Berne, Indiana, and Jackie Harter of Fort Recovery; his father and mother-in-law, John and Mary Robbins of Ridgeville, Indiana; his brothers-in-law, Kevin (Melissa) Robbins of Lawrenceburg, Indiana, and Vince Robbins of Portland; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
A celebration of Mack's life will take place at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at the Fort Recovery Church of the Nazarene, with Pastor Brad Ratliff officiating. Burial will follow in Salamonia Cemetery.
Guests may visit with Mack's family on Tuesday from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at the church.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Fort Recovery Church of the Nazarene.
